The Archaeology Southwest and UA field school is underway! The School of Anthropology is excited that a number of its own distinguished students are participating this year. This includes recent graduates, current undergraduates, and graduate students. Since beginning the field school, the students have toured the Himdag Ki: Tohono O’odham Cultural Center, San Xavier Mission, and the Arizona State Museum along with a number of archaeological sites located in the Tucson Basin and the Upper Gila, New Mexico. They have officially begun excavating their units, participating in archaeological survey, and engaging in experimental archaeology. The photo shows our students on-site in Cliff, NM enjoying their hands-on pottery class with instructor Andy Ward!
