Minor in Anthropology

Declaring a Minor in Anthropology

You may add the Minor in Anthropology at any time by contacting your major advisor or through the online declaration form. Students carrying a GPA below 2.0 are ineligible to declare the minor. However, since all students have equal access to enrolling in anthropology courses, those who now carry a GPA below 2.0 and plan to declare the Minor in Anthropology are encouraged to consult the Anthropology Advisor about course planning. The minor can be officially declared once the GPA is above 2.0.

Minor in Anthropology (for non-Majors)

The Anthropology minor requires students take 18 or more credits of their choice in Anthropology with at least 9 of those units being upper division (300/400 level).

Students may focus on one of the four sub-disciplines or take a variety of courses from the sub-disciplines. It is suggested, but not required, that interested students start with one or more of our core classes:

  • ANTH 200 – Cultural Anthropology
  • ANTH 235 – Principles of Archaeology
  • ANTH 265 – Human Biology
  • ANTH 276 – The Nature of Language

Classes must be selected from ANTH 200-499 (no 100 level courses are allowed).
