In the Media: Opinion Piece by Alum MacLellan in AZ Daily Star

Dr. Jessica MacLellan (Ph.D. UArizona, 2019) contributed an essay to the opinion section of the Arizona Daily Star earlier this week. Dr. MacLellan is an archaeologist who studies the role of ritual in ancient Mesoamerican societies. “Why We Instinctively Gather in Public Spaces” draws upon her research at Ceibal, Guatemala, where she and fellow researchers “find evidence that egalitarian groups came together to create monumental, ceremonial spaces.”Dr. MacLellan is currently an ACLS (American Council of Learned Societies) Emerging Voices Fellow at UCLA.
