Tanner Hammarstrom

Tanner Hammarstrom is an archaeologist currently pursuing an MA in Anthropology at the University of Arizona. He received his B.S. in History from Northern Arizona University in 2023. His capstone analyzed the relationship between Progressive-Era politics and the looting industry, exploring the development of the contemporary Southwestern identity within the context of archaeological resources. Tanner became involved with contract archaeology in 2023, working for several cultural resource management firms since then. He also spent two seasons as an Archeological Technician for the National Park Service at Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. His current research interests primarily involve the late prehistoric and protohistoric archaeology of the Pajarito Plateau, Jemez Mountains, and San Pedro River Valley.
