About Dakota Larrick

Dakota Larrick is a PhD candidate in the School of Anthropology and the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (LTRR). She combines anthropological theory with archaeological science, dendrochronology, and paleoclimate reconstruction to study human and environmental dynamics from the deep past to the present. Her PhD work involves using a large legacy collection of archaeological wood from northwest Mexico to date the construction of numerous early last-millennium sites and to reconstruct the climate, allowing for a longer and more detailed understanding of human and environmental dynamics in the region than previously possible. She is invested in science communication, community outreach, and collaboration within Mexico and the U.S. and beyond.
