About Andrew Rivadeneira

Andrew is a PhD student in the Mediterranean Archaeology program. He received a BA in

History and Psychology from the University of Kentucky, a BA in Classics from the University

of Cincinnati, and a MA in Classics from the University of Colorado-Boulder. His areas of

interests are in migration and entanglement of peoples and cultures in the western Mediterranean.

Particularly, looking at how these factors influence identity formation through burials and burial

practices. This interest stems partially from his upbringing as a first generation Ecuadorian

American. He has spent the last two field seasons working in Croatia, on The Brač Island

Project, where he served as a field supervisor during the most recent season.

Andrew enjoys watching all sports, with fútbol (soccer) being his favorite. He also enjoys hiking

and spending time with his pets.
