About Julia Juhasz
I am a PhD student in the Mediterranean Archaeology concentration with a minor in Law. To expand on my minor I am seeking a concurrent Masters in Legal Studies through the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy program in the James E. Rogers College of Law. I've participated in archaeological excavations in Greece and Turkey every summer since 2012, primarily on Crete.
I was born and raised in small-town North Carolina, received my BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my MA from Florida State University - both in Classical Archaeology. My dissertation research focuses on understanding the role of archaeology as cultural heritage in the modern world, using ancient Greek theaters as a case study. I am interested in building a social justice-oriented framework for research, management, and policy centered around the rights and values of the living community.
