Katherine King

About Katherine King

I am a PhD student in Biological Anthropology and a recipient of the University Fellows Award. I grew up in Farmington, Minnesota. I earned my B.A. at Ripon College in Wisconsin, graduating Summa Cum Laude with honors in Biology, with minors in Psychology and Chemistry.  During my time at Ripon College, I was a member of a number of labs doing ecology, cognition, and conservation research. Following graduation, I served as an intern at three AZA facilities, working as an animals care intern and behavioral research intern. My research interests include social behavior of primates and primate conservation. Outside of academics, I love to swim, explore nature, and paint.

Primatology, behavioral ecology, conservation biology, evolution 

Research Interests

Broadly, I am interested in social behavior of animals, especially primates, and how their ecology, physiology, and behaviors are impacted by human actions. At UA, I hope to combine these interests using lemurs to study paternal care and human-wildlife interactions.
