New MSc Curriculum in Ethiopia

The University of Arizona is now completing the third and final year of a university linkages capacity building grant funded by USAID ($389,975) to establish a new MSc curriculum in Disaster Risk Science and Sustainable Development (DRSSD) at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia. The first cohort class of 13 candidates has just recently completed their MSc degree, and a second class of 15, including 4 female candidates, is beginning their second year of course work. Together, these students will represent the first cadre of young professionals trained in Ethiopia to serve as educators and administrators in addressing natural and human-induced disaster events in their country. Tim Finan and John Magistro are the co-Principal Investigators.
