Education Trip Down the Colorado

Continuing a 19-year collaboration with leaders and members of four Southern Paiute tribes of Arizona, Utah, and Nevada - the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians, the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, and the Moapa Band of Paiutes - BARA faculty, staff, and students participated in the annual Southern Paiute cultural resource monitoring and education trip down the Colorado River in June. At the request of the Southern Paiute Consortium, BARA is working with leaders and members of the four tribes to produce a film documenting Southern Paiute ties to the river and its canyons. Anthropology graduate students Ashley Stinnett and Megan Sheehan are producing the film and joined Diane Austin and Kevin Bulletts on this year's river trip.
