Clare Maves

MA Student

Clare grew up in Columbus, Ohio and then attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she earned her Bachelor’s in Archaeology. During her time at GW she studied abroad in Nepal and India with SIT (School for International Training) as well as, participated in an archaeological field school in Ireland. Since graduating in 2022, Clare has worked in CRM as a field technician in the Midwest and an archaeological technician for the Bureau of Land Management in Palm Springs, California. In between these jobs, she lived out of a pick up truck with a friend and traveled around the country for six months. During this time, she got to explore the beautiful landscapes and hiking trails the United States has to offer. Clare’s academic interests in archaeology also include these landscapes, specifically the interplay between landscapes, land use, and identity. She enjoys toying with various archaeological epistemologies while hoping to eventually apply her archaeological knowledge to a career in the public sector or non-profit world with a focus on land conservation/historic preservation and decolonization.
