Alum Magrath Is Keynote Speaker for Online Seminar

Priscilla Magrath (Ph.D. Arizona 2016), recently promoted to Senior Lecturer in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) here at the UA, gave a key-note presentation at an international webinar on “Health Promotion, Community Empowerment and Literacy Education on Prevention of Covid-19” hosted by Universitas Indonesia on Wednesday, March 24. The seminar was part of a new collaboration with Universitas Indonesia related to the course Changing Health Policy taught by Priscilla with UA Epidemiologist, Professor Kacey Ernst.

Priscilla’s presentation on “Moral Framing in Health Promotion” drew on her dissertation fieldwork in Indonesia. The Health Citizenship Pledge currently promoted by Regents’ Professor Emeritus Mark Nichter through Health Care Workers Hosted was also presented as a case study of moral framing in relation to Covid-19. Participants from MEZCOPH included Dean Iman Hakim, who gave an opening speech, and several faculty and students. Over 500 faculty, students and health workers from Indonesia also attended. More details can be found here(Anthro News Digest date: 03/26/2021)
