Mapping Cultural Heritage: Exploring Places, meeting in Athens
David Gilman Romano, Nicholas and Athena Karabots Professor of Greek Archaeology and Director of the Archaeological Mapping Lab in the School of Anthropology, presented a talk virtually at the Seminar Dipylon at the École française d'Athènes on April 8, 2022. Romano's talk was entitled “Corinth to Rome: Digital Mapping from Field and Lab,” in which he discussed some of the work of the Archaeological Mapping lab, touching on research objectives, cartographic methodologies, and digital publications. Highlighted was the work of the Corinth Computer Project and the Digital Augustan Rome Project, both of which websites are currently being improved in the lab. Both Laryssa Shipley, Lab Manager, and Lauren Tomanelli, Research Assistant, have been instrumental in this work. Illustrated here is a new page from the Digital Augustan Rome website in which URL links have been added to the entry for the Obelisk in the Circus Maximus and a Google Street View of the site.
