Kirk Astroth (M.A. UArizona, 2020) helped record rock imagery this past March in Utah’s Nine Mile Canyon outside Price, UT. Nine Mile Canyon is known as the world’s longest art gallery and has thousands of images, habitation sites, and granaries along its 40-mile length. During this project of the Utah Rock Art Research Association (URARA), the Utah State Historic Preservation Office, and led by the CRM firm Logan Simpson, Astroth assisted with recording some lesser known petroglyph and pictograph sites in Nine Mile Canyon. The Utah SHPO recently posted video about the project on their website, and Astroth is featured about five minutes into the video. (Anthro News Digest date: 07/09/2021)
