Thursday, October 31, 20192:00 p.m.Haury 215 Title: The Messiness of the Moral:  Interspecism and Intersubjectivity in Domains of Animal Science Abstract: Interspecies intimacy defines an inescapable reality of lab animal research. This talk is an effort to disentangle this reality’s consequences—both in and outside the lab—as framed by the quandaries of anthropological engagement. Encounters with audiences outside labs provide an entry point for questioning how the “messiness of the moral” might inform the ethics of ethnographic witnessing, recording, and writing about interspecies worlds.
