About Kianna Dieudonne

I am a sociocultural anthropology PhD candidate studying at the intersection of anticoloniality, Black ecologies, and feminist methodologies. I earned my Master’s at UA in 2023 researching home gardening practices with Black folks in Southern Arizona. I am fascinated with the way Black agrarian and land-based practices carry with them knowledge passed down from generation to generation; knowledge about sustainability, biodiversity, spirituality, healing, and liberatory futures. For my PhD dissertation, I am following these same threads to better understand how our relationships to land, water, and the more-than-human world continue to carry Black relations, ancestors, and histories, which can teach us important lessons of adaptation in a time of increasing uncertainty.
