About A. G. Steig
I am a Ph.D. student in sociocultural anthropology, minoring in geography, who studies how ecologies are managed in a time of global change. My current research concerns reforestation in industrial forestry. For my master's project, I studied the "assisted migration" of commercially valuable trees to adapt the forests of western Canada to climate change.
Previously, my bachelor's thesis examined food sovereignty in the Peruvian Andes. I have researched and worked for environmental conservation NGOs in South, Central, and North America.
Outside of research, I have been involved in mutual aid and food justice projects in Tucson and Seattle since 2016.
