About Drexel G. Woodson
Drexel Woodson (Ph.D. University of Chicago, 1990) is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and an Associate Research Anthropologist with the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology. His research in Latin America and the Caribbean focuses on biography, history and bibliography in the ethnography of sociocultural and political-economic change; rural livelihood and food security; information systems for research and policymaking; and grassroots organizations. Woodson’s interests also include cultural anthropology, ethnography, history, and bibliography, symbolic/social interaction in complex societies, peasant land tenure and marketing systems, processual anthropology of development, Haiti, the Caribbean region, and the African American presence in the Western Hemisphere.
