Earlier this week, Robin Reineke (Assistant Research Scientist; Ph.D. UArizona, 2016) was awarded two grants for her research project, “Forensic Citizenship in the Borderlands.” The binational project is a collaboration with Natalia Mendoza Rockwell (SoA postdoc in 2019) and photographer Miguel Fernandez de Castro. The ethnographic, visual, and oral history project will document, analyze, and share the stories of civilian forensic expertise on both sides of the Arizona-Sonora border. Reineke was awarded both the UA Libraries Digital Borderlands Grant ($60,000) and the ConfluenceCenter for Creative Inquiries’ 2021 Mellon-Fronteridades Faculty Fellowship ($15,000) in support of the project.
