Nichter, Health Advisory Team Receive UA Team Award
The members of the University of Arizona COVID-19 Public Health Advisory Team have received the UArizona Team Award for Excellence. Many of the team members are MEZCOPH faculty. Regents’ Professor Emeritus Mark Nichter was the lone health social scientist on the team, bridging the fields of medical anthropology and public health. The remarkable coordination and execution of the University’s reentry goals this past year would not have been possible without the dedication and professionalism of this wonderful group of colleagues. They have worked countless hours on countless metrics, analyses, and processes that have impacted members of the Tucson and Phoenix campuses across communities and activities, including workplace safety and health, instruction, residence life, research, athletics, and travel. Further, the close collaboration with the Pima County Health Department has been instrumental in ensuring the safety and wellness of all members of our community including communications, testing, and vaccination.
