About Satoshi Abe

I am originally from Japan, and I used to study earth science and physics at Yamaguchi University, Japan. My interests in astronomy brought me to the University of Arizona which is well known for one of the best astronomy programs in the world. A series of encounters with friends from various parts of the world, however, made me want to study and understand different cultures other than that of Japan. I have studied anthropology since, and my passion for anthropology has not faded. I am currently interested in studying modernity in Iran, especially in how differing ideas of 'nature,' possibly emerged through environmentalism in Iran, shape their thinking.
