About Rebecca Renteria
Rebecca's research focuses on methods of identification of ethnicity in the archaeological and historical records during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the American Southwest. Ethnicity, or cultural association, can be expressed explicitly through architecture style or other material remains that indicate geographic origins of families or communities. Ethnicity can be implicit through ways in which individuals decided to identify themselves and their families to the public, yet in private identified differently. Combining the archaeological and historical record can provide insight to historical sociopolitical complexities that may have residual effects or analogies to today.
