About Norma Maynard (retired)
As the Manager of Administration, Norma worked in partnership with the Director and Associate Director to administer the school focusing her attention on the day-to-day operations in support of the school's goals and objectives.
Norma managed the administrative operations of the School and all administrative staff reported to her. She advised faculty, staff, and students on University and School policy and procedures. She assisted the Director and Associate Director in the School’s policy and program planning; managing academic and faculty affairs (i.e. sabbaticals, leaves, performance evaluations, and faculty status reviews); news, information, website, and automation management; development and event planning; Residential Scholar Program; annual Photo Contest; and, building renovations, maintenance, and space assignment. Norma was also responsible to coordinate many faculty standing committees.
Norma started with the School of Anthropology on September 30, 1991. Prior to that she worked in Hematology and Oncology in the Arizona Cancer Center, starting June 24, 1985. She retired on January 29, 2016 after celebrating the School of Anthropology's Centennial during 2015 and after over 30 thirty years at the University of Arizona.
