Mark Your Calendars: SoA at Tucson Festival of Books

The SoA will once again have a very strong presence at the Tucson Festival of Books. The School and the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology will have a space in Science City in the neighborhood of food. In addition, two faculty members and an alumna will participate in panel discussions:

•    On Saturday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the SBS Pavilion, Associate Professor Jennifer Roth-Gordon will participate on a panel with authors Jeff Chang and Reginald Dwayne Betts and SBS faculty author Tyina Steptoe (History), “exploring the many ways in which racially segregated spaces are constructed through language, law, and culture in the United States and beyond.”
•    Professor Maribel Álvarez will also appear in conversation with author Jeff Chang on Sunday, March 12 at 11:30 a.m. in the SBS Pavilion. The two will discuss Chang’s latest work, We Gon’ Be Alright.
•    Also on Sunday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m., Robin Reineke (Ph.D. Arizona, 2016) will serve on a panel moderated by Dr. Álvarez titled “Migrant deaths in the desert.
