Irene Romano Selected as PREP Participant

Dr. Irene Bald Romano, Professor in the School of Anthropology, Curator of Mediterranean archaeology at the Arizona State Museum, and professor of art history in the School of Art, has been chosen to participate in the 2018 German-American Provenance Research Exchange Program (PREP), jointly organized by the Smithsonian Institution and the Zentralarchiv der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Central Archives of the National Museums in Berlin, Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, SPK). PREP’s mission is to create a network of German and American museum professionals whose research pertains to World War II/Holocaust-era art looting. Dr. Romano’s work focuses on Greek and Roman objects that were either confiscated, lost, or displaced from 1933 to 1945. Dr. Romano will participate in two week-long workshops/research sessions at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles (February 26–March 2) and at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich (October 8–12).
