Commencement 2017

Hearty cheers for all of our Spring 2017 School of Anthropology graduates! A total of 34 students graduated with bachelors’ degrees in anthropology: 26 spring graduates received B.A.s and 8 received B.S.s. In addition, this summer 10 more B.A.s and 3 more B.S.s will graduate.

This year’s School of Anthropology Commencement Brunch honored three new Ph.D.s and two M.A.s in Applied Archaeology, all of whom were in attendance. Kathryn MacFarland, Wendi Field Murray, and William White all received newly minted doctoral degrees. The new Applied Archaeology M.A.s for Spring 2017 are Michael Spears and Stacy Ryan. Not in attendance were new graduates Kassi Bailey, M.A.; Sarah Renkert; M.A., Kayla Worthey, M.A.; Lauren Hayes, Ph.D.; Saul Hedquist, Ph.D.; and François Lanoë, Ph.D.

Eighteen of the 34 spring bachelors’ degree graduates attended the brunch. Several of them were singled out for special notice:
•    Dwayne Pierce, B.A., Honors in Anthropology, received the School of Anthropology Scholars’ Award.
•    James Wilcox, B.A., Honors in Anthropology, received the School of Anthropology Scholars’ Award.
•    Sarah Wright, B.S., received the School of Anthropology Scholars’ Award.
•    Jessica Harris, B.A., received the School of Anthropology Leadership Award.
•    James Myers, B.A., received the School of Anthropology Leadership Award.
•    Ramanathan Somasundaram, B.A., received the School of Anthropology Leadership Award.
