Today we celebrate all of our Spring 2018 School of Anthropology graduates, many of whom will participate in a celebratory breakfast on Saturday morning, May 12, at the Tucson Marriott University Park. The breakfast will honor six new PhDs, two MAs, twelve Bas, and three BSs.
The PhD graduates to be honored are Hayal Akarsu, Lindsey Feldman, Nicole Mathwich, Jessica Nelson, Gabriella Soto, and Robin Steiner. The MAs honored are Rachel Rosenbaum and Danielle Soza. Also graduating, but not in attendance at the breakfast, are Kent Mead and Adam Sezate, both graduating with MAs in Applied Archaeology, and Luminita-Ande Mandache, who is graduating with a PhD.
Six of the bachelor’s degree graduates will receive SoA awards:
• Michael Chikos and Leila Castro will receive the Leadership Award, which is given to students who “exhibit a record of outstanding academic achievement and leadership in School, campus-wide, and/or community activities beyond academic course requirements.”
• Dakota Fleming, Alicea Riley, and Regan Gee will receive the Scholars’ Award, which is given to students who “exhibit a record of outstanding academic achievement and activities that involve the practice of anthropology.”
• Valerie Warner will receive the Ganesha Award, which is given to students who “exhibit a record of outstanding academic achievement in the face of significant personal obstacles.”
Congratulations to all!
