Alumnus David Van Sickle’s Company Wins HealthTech Award

Medical anthropologist and asthma epidemiologist David Van Sickle (Ph.D. Arizona, 2004) is the co-founder and CEO of Asthmapolis, which uses inhaler sensors, mobile applications, advanced analytics and feedback to help physicians and patients monitor and control asthma. Asthmapolis is the winner of HealthTech Capital’s “Most Promising HealthTech Company of 2012” award, which was presented October 26th at the HealthTech Conference. After graduating from the UA, David went on to do a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service post-graduate training program and a Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholars postdoctoral fellowship before becoming an engaged anthropologist and forming his own company.
