Abstract
FROM THE FOREWORD BY DICK AND NAT WOODBURY: Together [these three authors] bring an expertise that could hardly be expected of any single author, blending art, archaeology and technology, and ethnography....Although this study has been more than a half century on the way, it is now wonderfully welcome as an important contribution to the archaeology of the southwestern United States and to the technical skills and aesthetic sensibilities of its early inhabitants.
