About the Judges

Christine Scheer has been a graphic design and photography professional for over 20 years. After graduating from Michigan State University, she assisted in the development of the first touch-screen graphics for outdoor kiosks and educational learning software for the American Hotel and Motel Association. Later, Christine launched a full-service advertising agency in Michigan and enjoyed producing corporate identity and graphics for a variety of private and non-profit organizations. In Tucson, she worked as videographer for the local Fox affiliate and as art director for a women's apparel company. In the fashion industry, she was art director for product photo shoots, performed film selection, digital color correction and photographic reproduction for use in national catalogs.

Christine currently works here at the University of Arizona as a creative services manager assisting the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences in the production of magazines, photography, content-managed websites and multimedia.

Mia Schnaible has loved photography ever since she borrowed her father's camera during a family vacation. Photography has led her to travel to 49 out of the 50 states to capture the sights. Mia loved landscape photography and couldn't imagine doing any other kind of photography. Until. . . her friends started getting married. After photographing her first wedding, Mia was hooked! She has studied with Denis Reggie, who coined the phrase, "wedding photojournalism", and now she can't get enough of people, places and things!

Mia's beautiful landscapes have captured first and third place several times in both The University of Arizona's On Our Own Time exhibition and the College of Engineering's art shows. She was very excited when her photo of a server at Pat's Drive-In won 4th place in the Tucson Newspaper's "Tucson Oregionality" contest.

Mia has had the great honor of photographing Linda Ronstadt singing at the Nelson Riddle Tribute Contest and Ben Vereen opening the Stevie Eller Dance Building. She has also had the pleasure of photographing astronauts John Young and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt for a space gallery.

Her work has appeared in The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson Citizen, Tucson Weekly, Downtown Tucsonan, Tucson Lifestyle, and The University of Arizona Visitor Guide. She has also appeared in various SBS, School of Music, and UA publications and websites. Mia is the principle photographer for the Arizona International Film Festival.

Robert Walker is retired from the UA where he was the Photo Services Center Manager for many years. You can see his work all over the UA campus and in its publications: The UA Fact Book; School of Theatre Arts web pages; College of Optical Sciences web pages; Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Graduation; Objects from the USS Arizona memorial; the Ribbon Cutting Celebration of the UA Campus Arboretum being accepted into the American Associate of Botanical Gardens; and so many other events and publications too numerous to mention here. Robert was also the official documenting photographer at Anthropology's 90th Anniversary Celebration Gala.
