Sociocultural PhD candidate Yancey Orr has accepted the position of assistant professor of anthropology at The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. The University of Alberta is a R1 university and is currently ranked fourth among Canadian universities.

The department has a specialization in circumpolar anthropology, the study of material culture, and ecological anthropology. Yancey will teach both undergraduate and PhD students while continuing his research on how symbolic systems and environmental labor interact to shape perceptual and cognitive knowledge.
