Ph.D. student Lauren Penney has been selected to provide social science input for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, a national academic competition for high school students on marine sciences. The program is in its 16th year and is revamping its competition questions, and BARA was contacted to help identify people who could help the program leaders improve the social science component of the competition. Lauren was selected from a pool of applicants and will play an important role in increasing the understanding and visibility of social science among high school students and their teachers.
